6. Placing right sides together, pin the 2 shoes together. Align the trims and felt sole pieces at the toe and heel. Push the strap down between the layers so it stays away from the outside edge. Stitch around the outside edge, leaving a 21⁄2" (6.4cm) opening in the middle back of the heel (Figure 3). Clip the curves in the seam allowance, being careful not to clip into the stitching, then turn the shoe right-side out.

7. Feed stuffing in through the opening and push it clear over to the toe. Firmly fill the toe, then stuff the arch and the high heel. Tuck the fabric and felt opening in and use red thread to hand-stitch the felt sides together.

8. Stretch the strap over to the other side of the toe and anchor it in place with the button. Sew the button shank through the strap and shoe, making several stitches to strengthen the connection.
